Following Trump's election win, big tech CEOs all took to social media to congratulate Donald Trump.
👉 Background: In the lead up to the US election, many of the largest companies chose to take a side…and many also chose to stay completely out of it for fear of the repercussions of backing the wrong horse.
👉 What happened: Following Trump's election win, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg and Apple's Tim Cook all took to social media to congratulate Donald Trump. And it’s fair to say the reactions of America's top tech leaders give us a glimpse at how CEOs are pivoting their strategy to appeal to Trump.
👉 What else: Trump has reportedly been making notes of CEOs and corporations that have wronged him or backed his rivals, aka his squash list. And so, business leaders who are wary of retribution have been reaching out and playing nice.
💡With a Donald Trump victory, the US tech scene is about to be divided into winners and losers. During his first time, publicly opposing Trump and his policies came at a price.
💡 Amazon argued in court that it lost out on a $10 billion government lawsuit because of Mr. Trump’s “personal vendetta” against Jeff Bezos.
💡On the flip side, Elon Musk, who spent hundreds of millions supporting Trump’s campaign saw his personal wealth jumped $20 billion USD after the election win as he is expected to join Trump's government... in some capacity.
